How I Would Streamline Cubic Castles

I don't know the game perfectly and I'm no expert but here are my thoughts on the changes that I would like to see in the game, and my opinion on what the developers should focus on. I'm open to corrections but keep in mind these are only from my perspective. There's a lot of ways to look at something, and I make mistakes every now and then.

    To be continued...
I liked this.. good post! Similar to the way I'm looking at things more or less. Of course the reality is as a small team what we can actually put in place is limited. That's in part why we want to streamline some of the things we're doing or cut things that are less important and focus.

  • In my opinion some changes in cubic castles I think we need are.

Economy Balancing, it is turning into a clothing simulator, and it is horrible for new players as they have no option to have a stable income.

Clan System Reworks, more optional ranks would be beneficial, and if instead of just ranks you could have roles togelable by the clan leader rank it would be great, for example a toggle to allow someone to invite people to the clan.

PVP System, I know that there’s mobile players who could lag if it gets to complex, but more wands, a way to toggle everyone in a realms hearts to a amount of 4 8 or more. There’s many games with mobile players with different weapon types, like swords, which I think would help cubics PvP system.

The Single Player Storymode being removed isn’t a good thing, I think a revamp/remaster makes more sense. I loved it as a noob and I think scrapping it is bad, making a different storymode would be better.
My main complaint about the single player story mode was that it was boring. If you added more mobs and added PvP more people would’ve played it, you should make a new storymode that has multiplayer or other features

Add more game features, the game feels more like capitalism than roleplay and fun. Adding ways to make cubits like dungeons or quests would be good.

The Level System is horrible, it takes forever to be able to do basic things like parkour for new players.
And Brawny is way too far ingame for any new players to like PvP.

RoboZilla running around overworlds was something I liked about cubic, if we had more fun and quality of life things like that I’d play more.

I hate New Eden with a passion, no one ever stays in new Eden and it’s more of an annoyance than a feature. The old lobby had people hanging around aswell as a place to advertise stuff.
New Eden was the worst thing to happen to the quality of players experience, and I hate it.

Adding Boats would be fun, people would fish more, and it could be used for roleplay and to move around realms with rivers.

I think advanced custom clan symbols would be cool, similar to custom textures if clans could have a logo or flag displayed I think it would be a great addition.

No one goes into mines after like level 30 or events because they suck.
They are flat and lifeless, if we had them with rivers, and mobs that you could kill for c early on I think it would help.
Like for example if you could be a noobs and kill like a slime or something new in a forest for a few C it could help revive the economy and keep people engaged.

I cannot stress this enough, WE NEED LARGER REALMS.
As someone who has owned several clans, I HATE HOW SMALL THEY ARE.
Letting realms go to 300x300 would help builders so much, a clan owner should be able to make a city without worrying about if they can even fit a few things.
It makes my cities feel incomplete, and I hate it.

Plantlife would be cool to add, im not talking farming.
The giant mushrooms in the deep forest biome are something I like, if we had more things like that I’d like it.
    Strawberry bushes, moss, etc.

    Some features I want removed:
    New Eden.
    New Eden.
    New Eden.
    New Eden.
New Eden was not designed with functionality in mind, I miss the old lobby.
  • 1. Cubic pass, Do things and get exp and progress through it , could cost 50k cubits for premium side or 10$ usd

    2. More animated items

    3. Social media promotion

    4. unique events that arent uninspiring and garbage like the events that have been on since i last played..

    5. Refresh cubit store items (New chests or cosmetics)

    6. Step up sales (First step would be 5$ for 10k cubits second 10$ for 25k cubits 3rd step 20$ for 100k cubits

    7. Revamp quests

    8. update old features

  • I would improve the in-game reporting system so users who don't know about the website, or can't use it can still make reports, and so the admins won't always have the worry of having to deal with some reports that could otherwise easily be handled by moderators. Ideally, the reporting system would automatically attach additional information for moderators to view alongside the user-written report, such as a log of the last X amount of messages in the realm, the realm name, a timestamp, and so on. This way, moderators don't have to rely on users sending screenshots of messages in a Discord server, and this also guarantees the screenshots aren't edited and makes it so the moderators don't have to go to the realm and check the chat logs themselves. Also, having an in-game screenshotting system would be of much assistance to mobile players, as often times, snapping a screenshot in certain mobile systems can be a little difficult and unreliable in ocassions where the chat is always moving and changing. Overall, improving the reporting system is definitely the best change that could possibly be made to the game, as the community heavily relies on moderation, and I've seen what happens to the community when moderators aren't able to do their jobs effectively... it's not pretty.

As far as other improvements go, I would also upgrade the crafting system to allow users to make many more variants of blocks and give them more freedom overall. For example, currently you're only able to make stairs, pillars, etc. out of wood, stone, and so on. Imagine adding the ability for users to be able to make any variant of any (or almost any) block. Imagine Wuvva Wallpaper staircases, pillars, slabs, and so much more! Additionally, giving players the abillity to rotate blocks to any direction - and not just the way that the qbee is facing - through a rotation method would allow for more freedom and comfortability while building (specially in the case of official signs, whose rotation and direction is based off of where the player is in the realm).
One of the biggest things incentivising older players to play the game is building, and it's one of the cornerstone aspects of the game, as almost every shop, community hangout, storage, or any other type of realm utilizes various building styles and block palettes, so expanding the number of block variants users can create, as well as giving users more freedom and ability with the crafting system as a whole (however you, the developers, see fit to do so), would, in my opinion, drastically improve the game and keep players playing the game for many more years to come.

Things I would remove or change in cubic castles:

Removal of the overworlds and realm deeds? I don't think overworlds should be removed entirely but I don't think just anyone should be able to have an overworld. In my head, I believe overworlds being restricted to official areas is best and makes the most sense. Most of us much prefer the older smaller cute lobby with the search bumper anyways. To me, New Eden, Wildlands and Questoria should be the only overworlds... I view those as streamlined versions of old eden, pelago, tinkerworld etc. As a follow-up, I would remove realm deeds and with them realm stamps entirely; their usage has been very much nullified since the addition of warp food. One thing for certain because I'm seeing it bought up so much, I do not think there should be a refunds for the removal of overworlds.

removal of realms and rooms I am all for the addition of an option that allows the removal of a room or realm. Unused or old realms/rooms are clutter and "bloatware" on a player's account and it can become an eyesore. How you could do this can be through email verification or hey maybe you can buy a special block from the cc store like a realm nuke or super nuke or something. Those are just ideas, either way definitely high on my list. Like the overworld removal, I do not think a refund should be given if a realm or room is removed.

removal of certain packs from the cubit store seen this mentioned before and totally agree. cubit store could do with a large cleanup. packs I would remove are: housing pack, farm pack, both pixel packs, foam pack, sand pack, stone pack, wood pack, water pack, luxury metals, marble pack, iron pack, plaster pack and finally the color pack. Basically, I don't see the use of a pack that gives resources directly, the game is old enough that several large resource shops exist and sell the resources for affordable prices.

Those three already make the game a lot more streamlined in my eyes.

Things I would focus on more:

Building Given this is what I spend most of my playtime doing I'll go ahead and talk about it a little. There are a lot of things I'd like to add building-wise but I'll focus on three that do not include the addition of a fresh new texture to stay truer to this discussion. Highest on my list would be more sculpty blocks. I've got a question actually, is a block being "sculptyable" a "tag" or is it's an entirely new item? For example, are new wood and sculpty new wood different items completely? If it's a tag, then wouldn't that mean all blocks can theoretically be used with a cut o matik if they had that tag? I'm curious on how it works. Anyway, the second addition would be more flexibility with currently existing blocks - the ability to place slabs vertically gives people an alternative if they don't want to use sculpty, and the ability to place columns and fences horizontally makes for fancy beams in certain designs. Finally, id increase the drop rates of decos from packs to make them more affordable. Older builders have an advantage above newer builders because they are much more likely to afford the expensive deco and I see it as unfair. This excludes the decos meant to be rare, like the cornucopia for example.

Not all blocks can be used as sculpty. They're special cases.

    Also some perk ideas:
Swimmer Perk - You will move faster when you are in water
Eskimo Perk - You will move normal fast when you walking on snow
Resistant Perk - When you get a damage or lose your hearts you will have lesser knockback
Long Arms - Being able to place/break blocks at longer ranges.
There can be lvl 2 and 3
Remove Emo Perk and make it default for everyone.
Bring back Fashion Perk.(If we will continue to get rares from packs.)
  • More Perks:
    Resistance on ice
Increase chance of cubit explosion (can replace 2x cubit from mining)

Total perks sum to over 65, but when a player reaches level 60 they will have all perks. Maybe special levels (10, 20 etc) can give double or triple perks.

    New level badges, right now there is a circle for 0 - 9, star for 10 - 24 and a crown for 25 - 60
Make badges change every 10 levels but keep the old ones as they are cool. The higher the level maybe you get color too as you level up.

    - Remove farm perks, but keep farming.
    - Less Cosmetic Packs. As fun as they are, they really only need to be on holidays. Some of the packs like chess, slymecorp, ocean, and sci fi were cool but added a lot of wearables that no one really wears. Non-holiday times could be used for hotfixes or quality of life updates instead.

    Add/Improve:
    - Tools for players to create their own games, blocks, and mini features. NPCs, and Custom Textures were a huge step in the right direction and are both still heavily used right now. That being said I also don't want any of the existing minigame features to leave (switch pack, sports balls, qbee/pulse bombs, racing, etc. Those are all great).
    - Revamped tutorial. If one of the developer team's goals is to reach more people, I think the tutorial should be more welcoming with some more information.

Well like remove the farm perks and have nothing or already have perks but you don't really need to level up for them and waste the start talent points for it.

I think you should add a sorting mechanism where some machinery can organized your chest and maybe make chest have bigger storage

You should change recipe for rope ladder. It is really wants a lot of resources for craft it. Crafting it is not worth spending these resources.

Just curious, Iv allways hear how small the cosmic cow team is for years now, but how many member are there, which roles do these people take within the company, how many people are working on each task.

Again im just curious as a long time player.

Try to find a way to get fishing, farming, and mining to interact? Idk, introduce a composting feature for flowers, fish, sticks, etc. all the various plants you find in mines and make them into compost/manure to mabye make the decent/good quality soil blocks? If not then use them to increase the speed crops grow? I would like to see Farming and recubes expanded upon. It feels so long since there’s been additional stuff added to them. Also could you make the seeds colored, i.e no longer transparent, it’s hard to see which blocks have seeds on them when you plant them.... and more blocks for the overworld.
  • Hopefully this isn’t too late;
I think all the realm tags need to be removed expect the pvp tag. This can be relocated to the main menu under realm setup.

If you toggle PVP on, you will get a dropdown menu to disable different types of wands along with pulse bombs. This can help make PvP events more fair and up to the host’s discretion.

Qbee model need another remodel because if you look qbee's arms/shoulders they are looks like fracture or dislocation.
  • SirKewberthSirKewberth EdenForum Administrator, Forum Moderator, Game Developer
A lot of those sorts of graphical glitches are because the game was never intended to have a free camera .. so you wouldn't see them. Probably at this point that won't change until and unless we made a sequel. It's not just a question of the modeling but how the code works for outfits and animation etc... It may be possible to fix certain camera things over time so we may look into that to improve it.
  • About seasonal packs, I'd like them to focus more on wearables they give (how about adding a small animation showing the wearable you get, for fun?). I remember having my inventory filled to the brim with decoration blocks, which I hardly use, only from buying a single pack. Dropping all the blocks is tedious and discourages me from spending money. Cosmic cow, pls fix
  • @SirKewberth Any information regarding Tapjoy on iOS? I think this could be a valuable thing to resolve and it would probably just require talking the company themselves.

I would also love to see more limited items, for example the news years pack has been in the shop for more than 20 days, remove it. Packs should be in the shop for 10-15 max.

Possibly trying to add another item for $? It would 100% help generate a lot of revenue for the game.

Could you possible add a clan update which could maybe add special clan perks also maybe you could have a pvp update which would allow for clan wars and more general pvp

Get rid of necromancer wand, it’s useless now. Get rid of wands from the cubit store and make shrink wand craftable

Honestly, i really want to make it so lvl 50 pets don't go back to lvl 49 when we enter a new realm or die it would be really good since i don't have to feed my pet and then just place some blocks for it just to go back to lvl 49 ty.
Also i wish you could make more wearables have animations like firefly wings or fairy wings, halo's kind of like float around and i think it would be a bit better if you could make some items have like a special animation for pressing Z or the star button,
like the knight sword you could swing instead of sparkles and maybe for like drink accessories we could put it up to our mouth and drink it? i know this seems kind of pointless but it would be very appreciated!
  • I used cutomatik for the first time last week and I really think it needs an update/change. I think cutomatick should continue automatic crafting until the resources put into it are exhausted. Because everyone has to use a lot of cutomatics to craft pixel blocks, and I'm sure some of them have special rooms/realms just for cutomatics. Also I think waiting 45 minutes to craft 5 pixel blocks is too much, this time should be less.

I think the time is fine, but you should 100% be able to craft more than 5 at a time, even if the time goes up. That way it isn’t such a grind to make pixels

I have heard cases where realms get closed/removed by devs for beeing too laggy and i understand that . But maybe its better to remove those hundreds not maybe millions of starter realms that are still in their original state (except for the presents) and untouched for an extended period of time (years). They render your overworld search function completely useless and probably hog up alot of space on the server. Do me a favor, try searching for a realm called Vend or shop or whatever and visit them ( which is the first thing new players do)...goodluck

  • Engaging animation videos are essential to promote the game and draw in fresh players!

Look at Clash Royal's strategy - they create videos for each event, effectively luring in new players to the game.

Without spreading the word through captivating videos, even the most exciting updates won't bring in new players.

For Cubic Castle to thrive once more in app stores and beyond, it's crucial to create a buzz and attract new players. ✧ദ്ദി( ˶^ᗜ^˶ )
  • The game itself and its features are in a fairly suitable place right now. There just needs to be a couple of improvements in my opinion, The major improvement being Marketing. I have played Cubic Castles for a long time now, and I am devastated by the drop in players over the years. Looking at the official Steam player records, the max number of players for Cubic Castles was 1,300. Although it is a fairly good number, looking at the current player count, it only gets around 30 active players at a time, which i think is really sad. I think if someone or something was able to advertise the game then the player count would increase rapidly, and this would make the game so much more fun, and more money could be made to go towards other updates. We just need a starting point. Another thing that could potentially be improved is the quality and speed of the game. The graphics aren't necessarily "up to date" and although i don't have many problems, a lot of players complain that their game is slow when entering larger worlds. I think an improvement on this would make a big impact. Overall I am happy with everything the game has to offer so far, but I think it just needs a higher player count. Lets see if we can beat the record!

It would be nice to bring back the old lobby where we all spawned in one place, it acted as a living room for players to hangout, make friends and talk with each other, unlike now where there is no place for mainly socialization. It can also help new players to feel not so lonely and isolated by coming across other players a lot more.
