I think you should do something about the pen's yard before openning the server because many people might lose their stuff because of the long server restart
A lot of the data formats are optimised as much as possible because we're concerned about how much data is going through to players. In part this reduces lag caused by network traffic, but it can also affect data costs etc.. It does lock us in a bit too though because.. if say a single block in a realm is as efficient as possible, it doesn't leave us open to adding a flag in that block's data to support some new feature as all the bits are already being used.
