My pet won't gain exp( yes I fed it then start doing things that should gain exp but it doesn't)

I got my pet and then fed it a sasague thing and then I went mining like crazy but it didn't gain a single exp like the bar didn't move it just stayed at level 0 and just an empty bar I tried to change name but doesn't work. It this like a bug?

    How much did you mine? It take a few thousand blocks (not sure of exact amount) to start seeing the xp at level 0

    It takes about 3000 blocks to level up a pet, so it takes a few hundred at least to start seeing any increase in the XP bar.

    The bar doesnt always move too... just try hard the whole time and you should see a difference

    Easy: Bring your pet kennel to trashbin, press toss.

    Yes it will take around that much to get the pet started, at least you're levelling up too :)
