How works Goop and Cavern farms and how could I make one.

I took a look at TheTimMan farms and I found he has these farms.
Can I know requirements of making one and what does cavern farm give.

    TheTimMan's Farm has everything farmable, with Goop (not Snot), you can place it and mine it have about a 1 in 50 chance of it dropping a Slyme Splat.

    Also, TheTimMan has copied the Cavern Mine very nicely and it isn't a farm more of a showcase for it. I think he did it to show players what they look like outside 'n' inside.
