Question about pets' detection range

Does someone know how does the range work and how does it change every level? Also idk which level is needed for my doog to start detecting fossils. Can anyone tell me?

it'll start detecting fossils at level 6, i think.

i have a lvl 5 and 75% to lvl 6. ill lvl it up tommorow and check

Yeah, its lvl 6 and it can detect but only if its 1 block under
