Is there anyway to get out of fullscreen without quitting the game on Mac?

I have this preeeetty annoying issue with Cubic Castles on Mac OSX (El Captain). Every time I want to exit the game (wether to check the forums, recipes or other garbage), I have to completely exit the game. I want to know if there's a way to get out of Cubic Castles without completely closing the application, or even better, disable fullscreen mode.
(apologies if this is a stupid question, I've only started playing the game a few hours ago cx)
