Finally finished reading Thrawn: Alliance, and I'm super annoyed at myself I took a month almost exactly to read it. Regardless I love the book and its arguably the best STAR WARS book Timothy Zahn has ever written. I often find looking back to Heir to the Empire and one of my favorite things to discuss is why it was the success that it was. A large part of that is Grand Admiral Thrawn as a character, more specifically when you think about how the Rebellion won and how Thrawn differed in ideology to the rest of the Empire. This is even slightly referenced in the book when describing the effect Thrawn leading the crew of the Chimaera had on them. Furthermore I like to link it back to the part in STAR WARS: Thrawn in which he speaks to Nightswan on how Palpatine's ideology influences the Empire's ideology but he wont always be the Empire's Emperor and when he dies a new leader can change the Empire's incredibly abrasive ideology.
