What just happened to my plants?

I just got farmtech a few days ago so I bought some small sprinklers.
I made sure every sprinkler had 4 soil/ plants to water, but now some of my plants died?!?!?
What is this, some kind of weird sprinklers water non farm soils too, but we didn't tell ya, haha kind of joke.

Why do you always do this to me Cubic castles!?!?!!!!! #blamehorus #blamesirkewberth

Also tell me how to prevent this in the future, pretty please?

    Small sprinklers only water 4 blocks (the sides) and not the corners >.<

    A big sprinkler will water all blocks surrounding it.

    It is in the description of the sprinklers, if you click the little question mark:

    Small Sprinklers: "... These small sprinklers will water 4 blocks"

    I understand it's not a huge amount of detail though.

    It is in the description of the sprinklers, if you click the little question mark:

    Small Sprinklers: "... These small sprinklers will water 4 blocks"

    I understand it's not a huge amount of detail though.
    yeah. I have read the 4 blocks, too short of a description.

    yeah I agree needs more of a description because when i first started farming i didnt know how it meant "4 blocks" so i started to ask around...

    Maybe when placing the sprinkler it can show you what it will water when placing!
