Glitch or bad luck??

Yesterday when mining i found 5 emeralds. Each time i bombed they disappeared. Now ive had one or two gems disappear before, i finally just figured it happens sometimes as other players say the same... BUT..
ALL 5 emeralds gone????

    theres a 50% chance of losing the items you bomb after bombing. I got told from a player and i also experienced itself

    And i noticed that if u placed the bomb over the emerald, it disappear, i recommend placing it beside it.

    I noticed that a while ago too, so im always careful to leave a space, i try to leave blocks next the gems then place my bombs beside those.

    Its a bit like the mechanic with creepers in minecraft.
    In mc 60% of the blocks gets destroyed when a creeper explodes.

    It kinda makes sense that some blocks get destroyed you are bombing them.
