Recent Adventures of the Platinum Paladin

I wanted to show a handful of drawings that capture where I've been. In short, single-player games such as Battletech, Doom Eternal, and Forager have taken the bulk of my time these past few months.

In that timespan, the Qbee of lore has been learning new skills, from piloting giant death robots to fighting demons from the very underbelly of the underworld.

I even wrote his biography:
#PaladinLore

The Platinum Paladin, dubbed Sir Qbalot Knight, had been born to regal estate, a noble of Cubicland. From little on up, he had been pampered in material ways...but something was missing, something more sentimental. His parents could not quite understand his desires...or worse, those desires conflicted with the community at large. He was a restless spirit, and unlike most who want adventure, he also wanted action. Time and again, that fighting spirit had been suppressed, not nurtured, and when combined with the spoiled upbringing...he was definitely not very nice in the younger years.

As time went on, the phrase "Go to your room" became less a punishment, and more of a reprieve. He found sanctuary behind closed doors...alone...where he could be himself. He was drawn not to religious texts or his studies, but to the world of his own making. A vivid imagination kept him going. Now all he needed was inspiration, a muse to capture his attention and push his mind to go wild. That is when he found "Myth of the Original Powers". Three girls of a species that had indominable superpowers, and were praised for it...that's what he wanted. From then on, the course of his life was set. He would find how they mastered the universe, and ape it. The rest was history...or better yet, the story of the next chapter.

The most of his life, up to maturity, had been spent in isolation. He had very few friends during that whole time. He was even educated from the tiny palace that he was raised in. And while the value of intelligence had always been stressed...sometimes very rigorously...his hunger for martial dabbling has gone neglected all the while. But when he was mature enough to finally see his society face-to-face, he found it was nothing like his parents made it out to be...and more importantly, when he could finally feel like he was "set free", the stage had been set for a show of awe.

From that first taste of stardom...and having proven himself as deserving of noble title, the newly minted Knight slowly gained the means to expand outward, searching for his belonging, his calling...and the Powers that gave him resolve. His ego now justified, and his cravings unshackled (albeit warped by a lifetime of misdirected yet well-intended nurturing), he set out to erect his home, the giant Cubic Castle that would be named Fort Knight. And from his personal seat of wealth and power, the Order of Paladins was born.

The Order of Paladins had a chapter of prosperity, lasting for a handful of years. In that time, The Platinum Paladin has enjoyed many great adventures, each one more glorious than the last. He united other guilds under his banner, found friends to help delegate leadership, and all seemed right in his world.

But that was not meant to last. Internal conflicts ensued, priorities elsewhere fractured the union of the Order, and the deathblow was cast by a single, central betrayal. In recent history, the Order of Paladins was effectively dissolved; all that remains is its well-preserved lore...and The Platinum Paladin himself. With his pride and life's work in ruins, The Platinum Paladin simply set out.

He was meant to act as a leader, but with no followers, The Platinum Paladin was no more than a lone wanderer, seeking out excitement wherever he can find it. In that interim, at the end of tunnels which connected dimensions together, he found himself in the boots of the Forager.

And after mastering that world, he claimed its Void realm his home, a neverending smorgasboard of demons for him to slaughter at his leisure. The demons could not fathom fear, or value of the self, which is why their infinite numbers kept hurling themselves idiotically at his glowing blade: The White Star. But what happens when an infinite army clashes with an invincible hero? Only sleep, meals, and bathing interrupted the eternal vacation of The Platinum Paladin. Even if there were no glory or reckoning in this solitude, at least he had found his own sense of paradise. And that is where he roams to this day, by his own choosing. The Cubic Doom Slayer walks the Void as his home.

If his former glory could be restored, or demonstrate the past aspirations of the Order of Paladins are not yet so lost, the one to awaken him must follow him to the Void, and find him there, in the flesh. Until then, he rests for eternity, basking in the blood and bones of monsters he has gleefully banished to nonexistence.
