2 farming questions

I have 2 farming questions
1. How long does it take before your crops die from not being watered? Like for example if you water a plant at 1PM and you come back at 3:30 PM the next day, would it still be alive? Just asking because I've got school and I come back at 3:30 pm at home.
2. What's the best thing to plant? I've found corn pretty good but I don't know what to start farming full time, corn?eggplant? Wheat?

1. I don't think the plants can ever die
2. anything that floats your boat! Wheatt can be nice since flour is used in a lot of recipies

1. There is a chance that your plants might die if they aren't watered. The more time you leave it dried the more chance that it dies.

I believe the most expensive crop (wheat I think) is the best because it gives you the most recubes when sold.
