Variables For Catching Turkeys/Pumpkins Quicker

Is there a way to minimize the amount of time you are waiting for traps to catch something? Do you "scare" them away if you move too much? Will it only shake if you are a certain distance from the bush? I've been waiting for quite a while now... lol

I am sure it is random because I had a bush shake 3 seconds after I placed it. Another bush took 25 minutes. I think it depends on how many players have bushes placed at the same time. I stand 3 spaces away from bush facing away from it at a double tall wall (inside corner) in the water and that seems to be fastest.
