+1 I haven't had a single time of using my own placed mines where I don't fall into a giant hole with people mining all around. I exclusively used empty mines in the past due to issues with people constantly trying to steal resources but since we can no longer zoom out to see if a mine is occupied, this has become quite a problem; I know this isn't the exact issue you brought up but it's related.
