A few tips about switches

I have gathered some information about the new switches update,
so I've decided to make a little list to help both beginners and others at switches.

Which blocks are switchable?
  • Fire traps
Any kind of fire traps; metal, steel, boxes or plates
  • Spikes
    (poison, blue and yellow mecho-spikes)
  • Outline blocks
  • Wind machines
    (omni or regular ones)
  • AcceloRings
    (horizonzal or vertical)
  • Soon: cannons
This information is derived from an anonymous source whose
name I do not want to say because of its privacy.

How can I activate the traps listed above?
  • Switches
(regular or timed) Note:Timed Switches will turn off after a few seconds!
  • Pressure plates
(regular or heavy) Note:Heavy Pressure plates need at least two players!
Who can activate the traps using blocks listed above?
  • Players
  • Spudbugs
  • Slimes and ghosts:N/A

How to make it all work then?
  1. You need some receivers, traps and switches of course.
  2. Receivers are used to "receive" an output that has been sent by
an activated switch or a pressure plate.
  3. When the output has been received, the receiver activates
the trap you have set to be activated.

Some videos explaining how it all works:

There will also be updates in the future as SirKewberth said:"...But my feeling is they wouldn't be big updates, but rather incremental updates.. Adding new switchable items etc... piecemeal over time."

If other Qbees find this thread helpful, I will keep updating this every time the update comes out.
Please don't forget to vote. Thanks!

    mecho spikes already work.

also worth noting that when building large switch set ups sometimes what you expect to see and what you do see are two different things. It requires the switch to be toggled on and off to sync it all up properly.
This is the same when using foams, they have a tenancy to break the switch set up until you re sync.
