What PC should I buy?

edited March 2018 in Off-Topic
I was thinking about starting a youtube gaming channel but first I want a PC that is strong enough for that, but I have no idea what everything means o.o
So if you know a good PC for starting a youtube channel and recording games please let me know :) thanks

  • I would suggest not spending lots until you have a reasonable amount of subscribers unless you do

If you are in need of a new PC, as a Computer Science student, I would suggest that you build it up yourself by buying each part separately instead of buying it all together. This way, it will be cheaper, even if it's a bit inconvenient.

If you did happen to do it this way read the instructions carefully because it's not the easiest, or get someone's help

With gpu as expensive as they are currently due to cryptocurrency mining its actually far cheaper to get a prebuilt these days.

I would've never said this last year or before, but these miners are making gpus cost double what they rrp at.
  • I'd buy a windows 10. They are high tech IF you buy it right now. A few years ago when I got mine, they weren't as high tech.

Really depends on the PC tbh. A Gaming PC isn't necessarily essential to start YouTube, but I get you. GPUs have risen here as well.

I get the points you are trying to say. A gaming PC would be easier to start YouTube and more space for more games.
  • I’d say wait until you get deals on Newegg because they have some sweet bundle deals over certain holidays. And if you live in US, you are also applicable for some of their mail-in-rebate discounts. The only issue is the gpu but everything else is far more cheaper if you buy it yourself and build it.

As for GPU, if you won’t be doing any hardcore gaming or streaming games that takes up a lot of resources, I’d say don’t buy a GPU for now seen as a newer ones should be out soon for a reasonable price and you would have it grab it while you can for somewhat cheaper price.

Also, if you’re building/buying, you also need to consider whether to buy an AMD based rig or Intel based rig. Personally, I prefer AMD as they have been getting better exponentially unlike Intel. Again, it’s your choice but make sure you choose what you want to stick with because later if you need to or decide to upgrade some of your parts, buying AMD parts may or may not be compatible for other Intel parts. There are few exceptions for this but they are mostly expensive but yeah. Stick with one.
