Im kinda lost about this pet lvl up thingy.

I bought a cat, i fed him a sausage, then i started placing half dirts,

My question is

Why is my KAT (name of my cat)not getting exp when i place those half dirts?

Other question is

When i lvl up KAT will lvl up too?

Or KAT will lvl up depending on how many blocks i placed?

Phew i was worried when i placed 200 blocks and no exp is showing at KATS exp bar.
