Maybe if a newbie gives perm to someone the other person can't take stuff from the chest.

Those sentries were most likely leftovers from the old days where any player could access chests regardless of realm/room permission or not. Just took them this long to remove the sentry i suppose.
Anyways.. not like it's needed now.
