Mods really can't do much about this unless one was present while everything happened. They need proof in order to give the item back to you (also mods can't make something appear out of thin air, you may want to contact @Horus, or @SirKewberth, or the support team (best choice)). The reason is that they play it safe just in case a scammer tries to get something that didn't belong to them in the first place, not calling you guys a scammer, it's just a bummer that it happened.
