Pets when a certain level will have a green ! over their heads when something special, like a fossil etc, is under them. To level one up, feed it 1 pet treat and mine. Lasts 1hr. Pets will follow you above a certain level :)

Starting from level 6, the detecting power increases after certain levels

it starts at 6 one block far then lvl 10 2 blocks far then lvl 20 3 blocks far
